"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations" (Mt.28:19)
In 1995 Themistoklis Papaioannou (then a Charismatic Interdenominational Christian) was drawn to pacifism after studying certain passages in the New Testament, he felt led by Jesus Christ to get in touch with the Quakers but he had no idea where to find them. One day searching in a Christian Library he found the "Journal of George Fox" which he studied. He prayed and God led him to believe in a number of Early Quaker doctrines. Th. Papaioannou and Elias Papaiannis were publishing a publication called "Evangelical Truth" (after a Ministry they started in 1994). Slowly, slowly the publication started preaching Christian Quaker doctrine. In 1998 Th. Papaioannou while attending a course at Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre in Birmingham, England became an affiliate member of Middleton Monthly Meeting of O.Y.M. (C). He changed the name of "Evangelical Truth"; to "Friends Christian Ministries" and stopped the Ministry in 2003 when Athens Christian Friends Meeting was established. Athens Christian Friends Meeting is an allowed Meeting of O.Y.M. (C) under the care of Rockingham Monthly Meeting and works with the New Foundation Fellowship (U.K.) and Friends in Christ (U.K.), etc.
Why an Internet Mission? The idea to start an Internet Mission came from the observation that via the Internet Christians can reach the world. We feel that the Internet is a great way to reach people, worldwide, with the message of Jesus Christ. People need to know that God loves them and that if they just turn to the Light of Christ within, Christ who enlightens them will show them their sins and how to overcome. Christ Jesus is alive and there are people today who know Him and who love Him. We feel that the transforming message preached by 1st century Christians and Early Friends (Quakers) is valid for people today and can transform people and lives. The Gospel is the Power of God. As the Apostle Paul wrote, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek" (Rom.1:16).Creation date : 25/02/2010 @ 10:24
